If you need further proof that intel are just rippiing off desktop users, then here it is.
Intel posted record profits for the last quarter, despite a 10% drop in desktop CPU sales.
So intel are charging more for their CPU's to cover the expected losses from AMD kicking their arse, and making more money into the bargain.
