I'm on about day 5, and while I've done this before, by the time I get to week 3-4 my face itches like nothing I've ever known. Is there a way to prevent or reduce the itch?
How do you cope with the itch?

While I've grown mine for over a year now (I keep trimming it back, this is average length. When I get lazy ill let it grow twice the length before the mother inlaw stars calling me a hobo!
(I aint trimmed since Nov, so its looking abit messy)

For the perfect grow, brush it ever day. trim it every so often to get rid the straggly long bits. (Am lazy and often dont)
Can spend hours with scissors getting it perfect, Too lazy for that.

Where the itchy comes from is: A) Dry Skin, B) Dry Beard Hair.

Every beard grower suffers from both. The start of growing one, the Skin becomes dry and this is where MOST of the itchiness comes from, This passes after so long.
Normal Moistener at this stage, as you get abit of hair length consider come proper beard stuff, as moisturizer will stick to the hair, dry the hair and make it look thicker and healthy .

I use a few different things.
Most morning i use: L'Oreal Men Expert Barber Club Beard and Hair Styling Cream
A, because it smells nice, B it adds moisture and it also has enough to add abit of hold to it, so the straggly bits can be hidden / pushed into shape.

I used to use ALOT of beard oil, Because it helps keeps the Hair Moisture and it keeps the Skin Healthy.
Its a all rounder and a must for the start of growing IMO.

Dont wash your beard every day, it will dry it out. every other day maybe 3 times a week.
And when you was it, use proper beard stuff. Shampoo and Conditioner. It sure helps keeping the beard healthy with the nessesery oil.

Sounds overkill and alot of work, but the beard take the hit on the most stuff from day to day.
Touching, Eating, Breathing.

Damn that sounds like a lot of effort. I'll give it a shot this time around and see how it pans out.
Cheers Dave.

I've ordered some shampoo, conditioner, beard oil and beard brush. Total price £11.70
Not bad considering an alternative beard oil is £20.00 alone.

Code: Select all

That's strange. Amazon links don't embed like the rest.
