Damn those thermals

So even though I said I wouldn't do it, I did do it, I bought an RTX2070. Sure it's a lot faster than my old GTX1070, but it's a whole order of magnitude warmer, worse still, it's blowing that hot air onto my PSU.

So today I'm going to carve up my case and add an exhaust fan between my GPU and PSU. Hopefully it'll go as I plan, but these things rarely do.

Throw me a rope, I'm going in.

good luck i upgrded to 2080ti and a complete new build, liquid self contained cooler aswell.
Psu is in it's own shroud, with fans, very cool - full loads at 4k is like 55c

Oooo yeah, pics please.
Sounds nice, and I'm not even a little bit jealous. OK so yeah I am.

I think my next step is a new case with vertical mounts for a GPU.

finally it's sorted.
It didn't help having 4 system fans all set to a default 800RPM and no PWM control now did it?

It also didn't help having all the fans BLOWING air INTO the case at the same time.

Now I have all fans set to auto PWM and one at the top of the case (200mm) sucking hot air out, one at the bottom sucking cool air in, and 2 middle fans with one on suck and one on blow. That should stop hot air from just hanging around inside the case.

Now, 5 minutes later and I can feel the cool air around my feet, so it's all working as it should, and even the CPU temps have dropped too :)

Side note: How to tell if a fan is sucking or blowing:
The air travels FROM the nice smooth side (the part that you'd prefer to look at) to the label side.
So if you want a fan to suck air in, have the label of the fan facing into the case.
If you want a fan to blow air out, then have the label side facing outwards.

Damn noob!
To be honest, I was surprised at how quiet it was. Now I know...

GPU is now 20°c cooler and the CPU is also 15°c cooler.
